0

On average, large-scale home remodels cost around $46,000. But maybe you want to spruce up your house without spending that kind of money. If that’s the case, consider updating one part of your home at a time.

Maybe you bring in newer appliances this year and tackle your floors the year after. This approach spreads out the cost while still bringing you the house of your dreams.

Below, we’ve listed some of our favorite remodeling ideas. Consider adding them to your home remodeling plan.

Open Your Space

If you have the means, why not take on a full-scale remodeling project? Try taking out a dividing wall to open up your space.

An open floor plan lets people move around more easily. It allows improves the natural light in your home and can give it less of a cramped feel. Sometimes, all you need to do is take out one wall.

Change the Paint

No list of home design tips would be complete without mentioning paint. Changing up your paint is a simple way to make your home feel new.

If you bring in a team to paint, you’ll need to spend more on the project. But you can also do the painting yourself. Better yet, recruit family and friends to help you.

If you can’t repaint your entire interior (or exterior for that matter), start with accent walls. In each room, pick a complementary color to paint one wall.

Accents work especially well if your walls are already a neutral color like beige, white, or gray. Don’t be afraid to go bold with your accent colors!

Update Appliances

Updating your appliances is one of our favorite remodeling tips. If you want to sell your house, this tip is especially important. Buyers are looking for up-to-date bathrooms and kitchens.

If you can’t replace all your appliances, start with one at a time. The fridge, stove, and dishwashers are a great place to start. Or, go even smaller and update your faucets and light fixtures.

Swap Your Flooring

Believe it or not, even flooring goes out of style. Replacing your floors is a big undertaking, so make sure you work with a high-quality company. Try googling “flooring near me” to find the best options in your area.

The best home decorating tips give you the freedom to experiment with your style. Interior design trends will always shift, so don’t latch onto a style you don’t like.

Start by hanging new art or photographs in your home. Change out your throw pillows. Bring in a few potted plants (high-quality artificial ones are okay, too).

Decorating with the seasons is another tip that keeps your space feeling fresh. Use seasonal colors and themes to inspire your decor as the months pass.
